Oksijen is a boutique interior design studio in Johannesburg, now in its nineteenth year, opening a new showroom soon. Côté Bougie is our sister venture, importing candles, reed diffusers, decor, African art and design pieces. Between the two, we sell online, through a stand at Trov, and soon from our own showroom. We need someone to run everything that happens once a piece is ready to sell: getting it onboarded, shipped, packaged, tracked, and followed up on, and telling that story on social media.

About the Role

This is a hands-on design role. You’ll take direction and turn concepts into working drawings, technical documentation, and sketches, mainly in AutoCAD, support furniture and finish specification, and help prepare presentation materials for client review. You’ll do occasional site visits to measure, and assist with installation as the new showroom comes together.

As the studio grows, so will the scope of this role. There’s real opportunity to take on more, from FF&E specification to project coordination, for the right person. Reporting directly to the founder, you’ll get close mentorship and a front-row seat to how a boutique studio sources, designs, and grows.

What We’re Looking For

• 3-5 years of design experience. This is a mid-level role, not an entry-level one
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Autodesk suite)
• 3ds Max experience is a bonus, not a requirement
• Solid working knowledge of Photoshop
• Adobe Illustrator experience for rendering and presentation is a plus
• Knowledge of furniture and product design, with an eye for detail and finishes
• Comfortable taking a brief and executing it accurately, with room to contribute more as trust builds
• Willing to do site visits for measuring, and occasional installation support
• Your own reliable transport
• A valid driver’s licence
• South African resident, or holder of a valid work permit

Compensation & Contract

This is a full-time position. Salary is market-related and negotiable based on experience.

This position starts on a 6-month contract basis, renewable thereafter.
